FC4: Changing locked Grub file

G'day all,

I've been trying FC4 for a few weeks. Unlike other distros (it seems), FC4 doesn't allow me to logon as root in to manipulate files in a graphical mode. I can access root in the terminal without a problem.

I'm lookin for something that will allow me to open a Grub menu and make changes to it using a text editor.

In a terminal;

<root password>

<editor of choice eg gedit,kwrite, joe, vi,emacs> /path/to/grub/menu

While joe and vi are command line editors (emacs launches a GUI for me, xemacs?) the others are gui editors, if you have gnome you probably have gedit, likewise kwrite for KDE
