FC2 - taking a while to boot

Fedora takes a while to boot and uncompress the kernel. I gave this distro a try on a laptop and it took no way near as long.

I'm going to recompile the kernel with the my specific hardware to see if that can speed up the boot time.

I'm relativley new to linux, so any help on boot up scripts or information on the boot process would be welcome.

Thanks in advance, xem.
