Hi
I also got the same sort of error msgs while updating gstreamer & alsa packages. The error msgs appeared in the terminal, though yumex gui didnt give any error message & packages seem to have installed properly
I have started getting this message after updating to kernel-2.6.17-1.2187_FC5.i686.rpm
Any idea anyone?
Thanks

the errors went away, I guess the order of the packages been updated matters, one should start from the top of the list, "just a guess".

shouldn't do, yum manages all dependencies, if it needs an earlier file it'll get it. But I haven't got a better explanation

Packages are often updated by the maintainers one by one, not in batches. It can happen that a new rpm requires a package that hasn't been made available yet or hasn't ben updated. If you wait a couple of hours this sort of thing is usually straightened out.
