Unhappy Can't boot - read only errors on startup

Hi

Am new to Linux and had Fedora 4 up and running beautifully yesterday. When I tried starting up today I got errors along the lines of "Read-only file system" and I think more importantly:

"can't open /etc/fstab input/output error"

Starting is rescue mode is at present little help to me as I know not what to type! But basically it tells me it can't find a linux partition. Only in normal startup it says it does find an ext2 partition. Any pointers? I'm reluctant to do a fresh install as i had files on the partition that I do not have backups of.

Sometimes the install of Fedora has issues and a reinstall is needed. You might want to reinstall the OS and check your cds for errors.

I think you can start rescue mode again . Goto your fstab file (I think maybe it locate on /tmp/etc/fstab or somewhere instead of /etc/fstab) , change your root Linux partition (which mount point is /) to rw .

Hope it helps you .
