Booting without starting X server

Whenever I boot Fedora Core, it immediately goes to the GUI without giving me any options. How do I boot withiout starting the X server?

You have to change the default runlevel in /etc/inittab. There's a line in there like this one:
[/code]
id:5:initdefault:
[/code]

Change the "5" to "3".

You could also just modify your /root/grub/grub.conf to look like this:
Code:
default=0
timeout=5
splashimage=(hd1,1)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
#hiddenmenu
title Fedora Core 5 (2.6.16-1.2096)
        root (hd1,1)
        kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.16-1.2096_FC5smp ro root=/dev/FC5/Volume1 rhgb quiet
        initrd /initrd-2.6.16-1.2096_FC5smp.img
title Fedora Core 5 (2.6.16-1.2096) [No GUI, Show boot messages]
        root (hd1,1)
        kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.16-1.2096_FC5smp ro root=/dev/FC5/Volume1 3
        initrd /initrd-2.6.16-1.2096_FC5smp.img
Where, of course, you would use your own root= path.
