Amsn

I just downloaded and installed Fedora Core 2, and I need AMSN, so I downloaded it of course, but when I used rpm -i amsn-file-name.here.i386.rpm
it told me:
error: Failed dependencies:
/usr/bin/wish is needed by amsn-0.90-1

So, I wen't to rpm find, and searched for wish, downloaded it, and tried to install it... during rpm -i wish-linux-ya-da-yada.yada.rpm it tells me:

Creating X10 devices in /dev/x10 with data_major=120 and control_major=121

so I tried installing AMSN again, still same error :|

any suggestions?
~Jabird

BTW, I also need a good Dreamweaver-like program that has support for atleast PHP, CSS, and of course HTML, others would be nice, but that is what I MUST have...

Try using Dag Wieers' rpm packages: http://dag.wieers.com/packages/amsn/ and

NVU is a Dreamweaver-like wysiwyg editor, not as big as DW... but Linspire is working on it You can download a FC2 version here: http://webperso.easyconnect.fr/danie...es/0.41/linux/

Thanks for the quick reply ... Will Dag Wieers' version fix my "wish" problem? or is it simply a better version of AMSN?

I will check out NVU... Except, I've never really figured out tar.gz packages... could you help me a bit in that field?

~Jabird

I ran rpm -i amsn (Dag Wieers' copy) and I got this:
warning: amsn-0.93-1.1.fc2.dag.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 6b8d79e6
error: Failed dependencies:
/usr/bin/wish is needed by amsn-0.93-1.1.fc2.dag
libtk8.4.so is needed by amsn-0.93-1.1.fc2.dag
tk >= 8.3 is needed by amsn-0.93-1.1.fc2.dag

Should I just RPM find those 3? I've already wen't to RPM find for wish, as I stated above, and I still get failed dependencies for it :|

tar.gz files are compressed files, much like ZIP files are in Windows. Use Ark or Fileroller to open them.

If there's an rpm inside, unzip it and run it as you normally would. If there's a whole bunch of files, then unzip them all to a new folder called NVU or something. Then you can probably run NVU by typing "nvu" (I'm guessing).

Most other tar.gz files you find on the Internet contain program source code. To install the program, just unzip the files to a directory and run "./configure", "make", and "make install" as root. You'll find more details by searching the forum.
