i'm totally new on this fedora and linux busisness and i'm trying to install my adsl modem.
i got the drivers (speedtouch-22-05-2004.tar.gz) and a firmware and i did all what they said in the readme. but when i'm trying to connect, i get an error message: "module usbcore not found"
i hope you can help me, and remember that i'm new on that, so please, detailed instructions are wellcome
I have the same problem, but being an newbie I am unsure how to fix the problem. I did a search on Google and found a good link. It suggested a recompile of the Kernel to include the module or to make the usb-core modules separately.
Hi,
I am also trying to install my modem on Fed core 3,and on the advice of my ISP I got onto the Speedtouch website for the relevent info.I downloaded the instuctions and appropriate firmware ( to floppy) but have fallen at the first hurdle:-
cp -r /media/floppy/* .&&
chmod +x firmware-extractor
to insert the firmware into roots home.All I'm getting is not recognised.
Simple advice to a confused Linux newbie will be most welcome.
Many thanx, in advance.
Hello again,
Thanks for the link.I'm sure it will solve the problem if I can just work out what to do with all the info! The trouble is I have had absolutely no experience with CLI's, file systems or directories ( typical Windows user. I can drive the car but have no notion re. what happens under the hood )Therefore I would be absolutely delighted if some kind person with saintly patience could walk me through the basics and get me started.
