a tricky one (install fedora without cd)


Hi!
Is it possibel to install Fedora on a laptop with no cd?
I have a usb diskett drive, but no cd... can i do a network install?

1. Download the 3 ISO files.

2. Place them on to a secondary partition on the hard drive of your laptop.

3. Download an installer floppy from fedora website. Boot laptop from floppy.

4. During the Fedora installer, it will give you the option of installing the ISO files that are located on the local system (your laptop hard drive). Just type in the location on the filesystem where the ISO files are located.

The installer will proceed by reading directly from the ISO files on your local hard drive.

One question: can the installer read from fat32 or do i have to make a ext filesystem?

I'm not sure if it can read from a fat32 filesystem.

I did mine on an ext3 on a secondary hard drive in my local computer.

mmm.....
When i try to boot from the floppy the screen goes blank after the kernel messages...
It's the same for all install moeds (text, noprobe...), does anyone know what to do...??

update: I downloaded the floppy image again and wrote it to a new floppy... still nothing
I tried to boot an other computer with the same boot floppy... it worked i get a screen asking what language i want to use... but it dosnt work on my laptop (a IBM ThinkPad X23)

update: Its working!!! I had to send some kernel arguments (nofp?), but it's working now!
