a possible up2date solution

if up2date wants you to register with RHN or any type of error

if you have this problem then it's gonna give you hell!!!!!!!

to fix....
step 1
open a termiinal

and type... grep default /etc/sysconfig/rhn/sources
if you see this...

#up2date default
up2date default <------

then...

as root navigate to /etc/sysconfig/rhn
type ls
if you have a file named systemid remove it!

type rm systemid

next locate the file named sources

type vi sources

look for the up2date line without a # in front of it.

next press the letter "i" on your keyboard

scroll down to the up2date line and put in a #
so you will have this......

#up2date default

next press the " : " semicolon

and type
wq!
you'll now be back to the terminal

type... grep default /etc/sysconfig/rhn/sources

hopefully you'll see this

#up2date default
#up2date default

exit out and try running up2date

if this doesn't help then at least you'll know where to start looking for your solution
