if up2date wants you to register with RHN or any type of error
if you have this problem then it's gonna give you hell!!!!!!!
to fix....
step 1
open a termiinal
and type... grep default /etc/sysconfig/rhn/sources
if you see this...
#up2date default
up2date default <------
then...
as root navigate to /etc/sysconfig/rhn
type ls
if you have a file named systemid remove it!
type rm systemid
next locate the file named sources
type vi sources
look for the up2date line without a # in front of it.
next press the letter "i" on your keyboard
scroll down to the up2date line and put in a #
so you will have this......
#up2date default
next press the " : " semicolon
and type
wq!
you'll now be back to the terminal
type... grep default /etc/sysconfig/rhn/sources
hopefully you'll see this
#up2date default
#up2date default
exit out and try running up2date
if this doesn't help then at least you'll know where to start looking for your solution
