dreamlinux v5alpha has been announced, but...

At their forum, the devs are soliciting alpha testers
(and reports posted so far show it's pretty stable)

Back on Dec 14 I registered at the forum & intended to test it (need to PM the devs to receive a dl link, go figure) but my forum application is still "waiting for approval".

word.

I hope that your membership was approved as there is a lot going on over there...The forum personally approves all new members to keep the spam and other garbage out, unlike the autoresponder that doesn't know better

Thanks for the followup.
No, my account registration there was never activated.
(error msg states something like "you have entered an unknown username" when I try to login)

I downloaded the iso of Dreamlinux 5 final.
Checked md5sum and copied it to USB using unetbootin
Dreamlinux will not boot for me. A "panic" message displays to screen then hangs, or halts.

At this point, I've decided that rather than jumping through additional hoops, I'm just going to pass.

Hey! Seems my problem was due to a flaky, long-abused USB pen.

My initial impression during live session was QUITE favorable.
It's an excellent showpiece for the capabilities of the xfce deskktop environment!

The only quirk, er hiccup, I can recall from the session was:
Menu } AboutDreamlinux (click and no about box was displayed)

I'll post back here (not this thread, though) after I've spent more time using the distro.

Okay, that was quick.
I'm done. The Dreamlinux installer fuxx0red my boot configuration.
Went to the forum to find help. Can't login. My user account application was never activated.
Browsed the forum as guest, and read

Oops, yeah, sorry 'bout that... will fix it in the 64bit version

Oops, my arse.
Ought to fix it now, resissue a FINAL.point.OOPS iso
...and next time, have more than 3 or 4 users test a release
http://dreamlinuxforums.org/index.php?topic=6688.0
prior to calling it final eh
