Can anybody help me regarding this issue? I'm working on a kernel version 2.6.

Thanks

Add "psmouse" and "mousedev" to the configuration file /etc/modules

Those two modules are needed with the 2.6.x kernel, but for some reason they aren't installed automatically.

Thanks m_yates for your fast response. It seems that what you suggested me to do changed the things for good. Now I'm receiving a new ERROR. I think that you will understand it much better than myself.
This is the log:

xauth: error in locking authority file /home/diegone/.Xauthority

I've been searching for this on the Internet and found this:

Signal 11, or officially know as "segmentation fault", means that the program accessed a memory location that was not assigned. That's usually a bug in the program. So if you're writing your own program, that's the most likely cause.

I was told that there's a problem with NV cards and Debian 2.6, is that True? My AGP Video Card is a Diamond Vipper 770. RAM = 16 MB.

Thanks again for your help

Regards

Diego

Most X related problems can be solved by running (as root) "dpkg-reconfigure -plow xserver-xfree86" and selecting the correct video driver for your graphics card and the correct refresh values for your monitor.

The xauth error seems strange -- you aren't by any chance trying to launch X as root? If xauth keeps giving error messages, you can remove the old .Xauthority file and generate a new one by running (as normal user) "xauth generate :0 ."
