am I right about the fact that it is a modem and that you are on the phone line?
becasue you write: "ethernet card Kingston pci card 56k" ---> for me 56K is modem and ethernet is something else...

ok look this is how my connection is cable throw wall to the cable modem cat5 to my router, then cable to my mac airport,know i have this cat5 cable runnin to my room connected too my ethernet card.
ok... and this cable is connected to this ethernet card Kingston pci card 56k??
seems odd to me but well...
you said that it worked in Xandros right.. as Xandros is debian based what about doing the same config and u remember which modules, drivers,etc...?

it has a network wizard so i did it off that here read this area where i was trying to connect my xandros network http://www.tech-forums.net/showthrea...5&pagenumber=1 i think this will help you to understand better i hate to type i make no sence as you can see.
hey dude your setup is freaking scary.. I mean I am completely unable to help you with that... no idea how work all that... and mostly I never did it... I though you had a regular connection... what about following the same steps than with xandros and that proved to be working and then come back?
Sorry I know it's not helpful but as long as we are talking about debian regular config I can help yuo but that.. I could only confuse you more than you already are...

well we can chat if you want and I can try to help you but this part I'm not able becasuse I just don't know... if I don't know usually I prefer shut up :-)
or setup like in xandros and continue...
or install the remainnig stuff with cds and after find a whatever wizard in kde or somewhere else...

I use Debian "etch" (the current testing/development version) to run my BBS and freenet system at bufonline.dyndns.org on a Sun Ultra 5 system. It works very nicely
