Question Updating kernel error

Hello,

I am trying to update the kernel. Below is the problem I get when doing so
Code:
apt-get install kernel-image-2.6-686
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Couldn't find package kernel-image-2.6-686
I have read that this could be a problem with my source.list file. Below is my source.list file. Is there any problems with it?
Code:
#
# deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 5.0.4 _Lenny_ - Official i386 NETINST Binary-1 20100201-16:45]/ lenny main

#deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 5.0.4 _Lenny_ - Official i386 NETINST Binary-1 20100201-16:45]/ lenny main

deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ lenny main
deb-src http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ lenny main non-free

deb http://security.debian.org/ lenny/updates main
deb-src http://security.debian.org/ lenny/updates main

deb http://volatile.debian.org/debian-volatile lenny/volatile main
deb-src http://volatile.debian.org/debian-volatile lenny/volatile main
Thank you for your help!

kernel-image-2.6-686 doesn't exist in lenny, only etch. Try linux-image-2.6-686

and make sure to apt-get update

Hello AlucardZero,

As you can probably tell, I'm new to this. So I appreciate your reply. I did your suggestion.
Code:
apt-get install linux-image-2.6-686
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
linux-image-2.6-686 is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
I have read that without running the update, you can't use over 1G of ram. I have more than 1G and would like to use it. So that is my goal here. Have I done that using your suggestion?

Er.. that shows you already have it, so there's nothing for you to do. The 1G thing is probably 10 years old. What kernel are you currently running (uname -r) and how much RAM does your penguin currently see (free -m, first number)?

You're right, I already have it. I was reading old news about having to update.

uname -r: 2.6.26-2-686
free -m: 1510

Thanks for your help!
