Tweaking xorg for better game performance??

I went ahead and installed Debian Lenny on my desktop.Been using it on my laptop for a while.Im trying to get it to play some of the first person shooter Linux games like Nexius,Sauberaten,Open Arena..etc..
Pc isnt latest. Its got a Athlon Xp clocked at 2ghx,a gig of memory and a Ati 9800 Pro.On windows it plays all the games I mention nicely. But with the fglrx drivers it seems its a hit or miss on the games.Sauberaten plays nicely but no where near the frame rates I get on windows.Nexius is about same, faster on windows. And Open arena? Its like a slide show at times. With missing walls and textures and frame rates around 10-15.It's unplayable.I have Quake 3 Arena and on this pc it's always nailing it around 200 fps..And Open Arena is based on the source code for that game.
Any tweaks I can do to xorg.conf to get better performance??Hers a copy of my xorg.conf now..

# xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

since you are on Debian forgive me for suggesting closed source drivers

welcome to the dark side heh heh

http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/l...ux-radeon.html

There is a wonderful script or 2 that can take care of your debian repos and closed src drivers http://techpatterns.com/forums/forum-33.html

I have nvidia and use smxi...a all in one script for kernels upgrades and closed src stuff.
if you do not like easy use...you can use a specific script?
