Scroll bars that don't disappear

I'm using Debian 12 with Gnome and Wayland and am hoping that there's a way to enable scroll bars that don't disappear and ideally are also wider. I've searched and come up empty-handed. Thanks!

Generally speaking, scrollbar width and persistence are theming issues. I have no idea what the options are in Gnome, but in KDE/Plasma these are configurable in a default installation, regardless whether X11 or Wayland. Some apps ignore the overall DE theme and need an app-specific theme change or other customization, such as Firefox.

Try
Code:
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface overlay-scrolling false

Thanks for that, too. I had found it in Firefox, but now I have it in Files as well.
