sata/scsi drive doesnt mount

I have two machines:

One with a sata drive as a storage drive, and one with a scsi array as storage. Both of them have their OS on an IDE/ATA drive. Both are running 2.6.10 SID.

Neither of them mount the sata/scsi drives during boot. For instance, /dev/sda1 (in both cases) isn't mounted when I log in and "df -k", however I am able to mount them with a "mount /mount/point". I have a little executable file now that mounts the drives, though not at the same time as the system drives and I am wondering if that means I am missing out on the checking that normally goes on with system drives at bootup. Granted, the machines are rarely rebooted, but when they are I would prefer that they come up together.

FYI, I have Legacy Mode turned on in the bios on the machine with the add-in sata drive (seemed to be a problem if it wasn't according to other threads), and the other machine has a disk array plugged into an LSI raid card.

Thanks for the help.

Do you have entries in /etc/fstab for the partitions to be mounted?
If not, add some suitable entries there.
If you do have suitable and correct entries there, are all the necessary kernel modules for the drive controllers being loaded at startup?

yup

I did have the entries in fstab, which is what puzzled me.

However, the answer is always the most simple:

Put the modules into /etc/modules...
