reinstall apt-get

How do you do it

apt-get does not seam to be working any more.

Am getting this error:
apt-get: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

How do i remove apt-get and then reinstall it

or is there another option

thanks

I don't think it's apt-get.
I Googled your error and this came up.

Have you tried using Synaptic Package Manager? It should have been installed with your system.

You might be able to either install the missing library or uninstall your current version and drop back to the earlier one.

Another possibility is to use KPackage but I don't know how you'd do this in KPackage.

dselect uses apt-get by default, so if apt is broken......

I _think_ that Synaptic doesn't use apt.
