problem with gallery

i installed gallery on etch with apt-get. none of my images are showing up, i guess because the install is to /usr/share/gallery, and my web directory is /www. all the directories in the gallery config appare to be right, and when i make a new album it all gets put in /www/gallery, where it should be. it makes no sense to me that the debian devs would have gallery install in /usr/share if it couldn't work from there, but maybe some people put their root web directory on /usr/share? <blech>

there's an alias in /etc/gallery/apache.conf pointing /gallery to /usr/share/gallery that i thought might be the problem, but when i change that to /www/gallery, i get a 403 forbidden error. can anyone help me get this set up?

Is apache running?

i solved it. it's pretty cool software, but a little inflexible. it seems that the albums directory has to be in your document root, and it has to have two slashes in the configuration setting, e.g. /var/www//albums. i tried a dozen different configurations, and that's the only one that works. thanks for the reply.
