If you've recently updated to KDE 3.4 via the Etch repositories you'll find that the KDE time settings module is broken. That's because of some dependency issues during the transition of libraries.

It's broken for me too. So that might be your problem.

You can set the date and time in the command line using the date command.

You can se the help/manual page for date using man date

Using root's account you can do:

date 1218122205

12 -> Month
18 -> Day
12 -> Hour
22 -> minute
05 -> year

I found the problem thou...
My password contained some characters which i don't think it could except.
Because I changed it with 'passwd' to something regular and i could login without a problem.
password example: &é"'(§è!çà

I don't know if i can call it a bug...but it does work in command line for
-su
-Password
and doesn't work for changing time
