Do you have cups installed?
these are the cups related packages I've installed. Which may be more than required.

cupsys, cupsys-client, and cupsys-bsd, cupsys-driver-gimpprint,cupsys-driver-gimpprint, gnome-cups-manager

In your web browser type http://localhost:631 and there you'll get printer management. Or if you install gnome-cups-manager you will have that in your program menu.
