The only one in this thread causing 'dissention' is you, and michaelk's note about attacks was directed to YOU not me. If you feel 'attacked' by someone asking you questions, there isn't much anyone can do for you. Again, multiple people have said these things to you in past years, when you (again) don't provide details or follow up. I recommend you check your previous threads where this has occurred, since you obviously don't remember.
Or you could actually DO SOMETHING, as things were suggested previously; see post #6:
Boot from USB and run fsck on your hard drive
Run smartctl to see if you're having hard drive errors
Run memtest to see if there's a problem there
Look at the logs to see if there are any errors
Yet you've done nothing...and have had this problem for a year. You could be getting errors in your system logs and they don't manifest as a 'problem' until you try to reboot. AGAIN, since you've given us no information at all, I have no idea why you think we'll be able to tell you anything. You seem to want to play the "poor me I don't know anything" card, yet have been here for years and by your own admission have 'six dozen' Linux books, aside from your studying?? But are totally lost, even when you've been given commands???
Could be anything from a loose cable, power supply going bad, drive failing, memory going bad, or a thousand other things. Since you don't seem to want to actually participate in the forums by supplying information (which helps others with similar problems) and want us to guess, why don't you take your computer to a local shop and have them deal with it?? Everyone would be happier.

Sorry, but grow up. You asked for help, yet won't answer simple questions, run commands you got spoon-fed and continue your attacks for no apparent reason other than someone challenged you to stop your poor behavior.
Either do something, open any of the 'six dozen' Linux books, or take it to someone that DOES put effort in. I agree with hazel and Goumba...this thread should be locked since you won't participate in helping to get *YOUR PROBLEM* fixed, when you asked the community for help. And we're not going to wait around for however-long it takes for you to reboot. Reported.

Thank You TBOne! See you can be very civil when you desire. Reported.
Apparently; I reported things because of LQ Rule violations regarding personal attacks/name calling, and to suggest closure of this thread since the OP isn't doing anything to help get their problem solved. Agree with you and goumba...no point in having this open any longer.
I stated in an earlier post when the lockup happens again I will try the considerations everyone has suggested to me in this thread. The computer HAS NOT LOCKED UP since I started this topic. It will lockup at some point but until then one cannot fix something which is not broken.
This topic should not be deleted.
Have a nice pleasant day!

And as stated earlier, there are things you can look at RIGHT NOW, along with taking the steps of powering off/rebooting it manually to try to reproduce the error. Unsure as to why those simple things can't be done.

TBOne you continually incite with responses like this. I do not want you to reply to any of my topics. You have been asked a year ago but you continually harass. It's your very bad behavior. REPORTED.

Feel free to report; when you post on a public forum, any member can reply whether you feel like it or not. If you feel it's "inciting" something to suggest you run commands to try to diagnose the issue you reported, not really sure where to go with that. Again, you are refusing to participate in the thread that YOU OPENED for YOUR PROBLEM, yet somehow want to keep this open and will expect people to help you in the future with other issues, despite behavior like this.

TBOne you spend all your day, time, replying to me over this silly issue. Nursery School is over for the day TBOne. Go play with someone else. By the way ,,,do you live in your mommies basement?

They're called thread notifications. The only one in this thread that's been childish, 'inciting', and rude has been you. Either do something or there isn't much point in posting anything, anywhere.
