Konqueror

Hi

I was wondering if there is somewhere in Konqueror settings where you can get it to load your start page. I want it to load www.google.com on start but it does not load anything but the welcome page for Konqueror.

Easy -- I'll field that one.
Click "Settings" from your menu bar up top and choose "Configure Konqueror". Under "Behavior" you can enter your fav in "Home URL" form.

Go to the Google page and try dragging the small icon from the url field into the browser's home button.
I know it works in Firefox, not sure about Conqueror...

I'm not sure if that's what he means, I think it's more to the point of the introduction page that pops up when Konqueror comes up, then you have to click the home button. There's a very easy fix, read the front page of the intro, It has a click here link to disable it. If I'm wrong then follow towjambs advice.

Konqueror and Firefox treat "home page" differently.
For the home page in Konqueror, you click the home page button and you go to the home page.
In Firefox, when you start it, it loads the home page.

Well, it's really simple (if you know the way).
Start konqueror, go to Settings -> Configure profiles and there mark both boxes "URL" and "Size" for the item webbrowsing.
Then enter the desired webpage f.i. (www.xyz.net) in the location-bar, press Enter and when you're connected go again to Settings -> Save view profile "webbrowsing" and you're done.

thanks. that works, but it is not at all intuitive.
the Konqueror designers could take a lesson from firefox with this.

Right you are. But LQ.org very often has got an answer on how to get through the labyrinth to the desired goal.

Wasn't firefox originating from an all-overbloating Netscape/Mozilla? Maybe the konqueror-team will sooner or later decide to go the same way: leaner, smaller and more intuitive modules for webbrowsing and filemanagement. Just mail them.
