KDE will not delete or move anything to wastebin

Hi

As the subject describes, I'm having some problems with KDE 3.5.8 on Debian 4.0r1 Etch. I'm pretty sure this is a KDE issue, but as it's on Debian and I couldn't readily see a more appropriate place to post this, I decided to burden you fellow Debian users with this one

Basically, whenever I try to delete a folder or file - either highlighting it and hitting delete, or right clicking it and selecting delete, or whenever I try to move anything to the wastebin, or even try and empty the wastebin, it fails. What happens is the usual progress dialog box pops up, but hangs at 0%.

This started happening a few days ago, seemingly out of the blue. All other file operations work correctly within KDE, copying, moving etc.

rm still works, and the permissions on ~/.Trash are correct. That's about where my diagnosis of potential problems ended, and there doesn't seem to be much info on this via Google.

Any ideas would be great, cheers in advance

Chris

KDE seems to use ~/.local/share/Trash rather than ~/.Trash, which I assume Gnome uses (I think, it's a while since I used Gnome).

I've occasionaly had the same problem and usually fix it by changing permissions on that folder, or deleting the folder and restarting KDE.

You can tell I've not been using KDE for as long as I have Gnome Thanks a lot mate, that worked like a charm.
