Is there a guide teaching me how to configure /etc/networks/interface?


I forget the option i have to put in the file in order to make to nic work at boot time.

Oh...i searched google and someone said it has very detailed explaination in the MAN page, but actually, where can i find the MAN page? I do know what it is named...

auto eth0 on a line by itself or on the line with the auto lo entry.

The man page is just: man interfaces

if you want dhcp just use:

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

if you want fixed ip address use:

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address x.x.x.x
netmask x.x.x.x
gateway x.x.x.x

and if it's a wireless connection, optionally add
wireless-essid mynetworkname
