I do not about Ubuntu, but with Debian
Code:
apt-get remove name_of_package
will delete a package.

I am a little confused about ./vmware though. My knowledge is rudimentary, but I have not seen any packages that begin with ./
Because of ignorance I may be blowing hot air, but as far as I know "/" indicates a directory and ".NAME" is the name of a configuration file.

Hi

./ <pkg name>this command is to run the file in command shell. if you are install firefox in ubuntu you will get one file from internet and that file run by ./ this command.
I have already try with (apt-get remove) and also (dpkg -remove)

Thanks
Johnson

When you try apt-get remove, what error message is generated?

It seems you did not install it via your packaging system. Therefore you will not be able to uninstall it with your packaging system (dpkg, apt-get etc). Presumably "vmware..." is some sort of self extracting tar ball. It may have an uninstall option, or you may need to remove the files it dumped on your system manually.

Where did you get this "vmware..." from? Is there any documentation that comes with it?

Unless you get lucky and someone here is very familiar with the the vmware installation method, there is very little chance you will get a cut and paste answer. We need more information.

Hi,

is there any particular reason you want to use vmware? It is non free software and therefore not packaged for your system. Have you considered using virtualbox (GPL version) or kvm?

Ok. ... do you mean to say that you have considered them but chosen not to use them because you have no experience with them?

BTW, where I wrote "GPL version" in by previous post, I was referring to the licence of the free version of virtualbox.
