How to use http://snapshot.debian.net/

After seeing a reference stating that I could get a wanted file at http://snapshot.debian.net/ I went there but had no clue how to work it to get the file. I am currently seeking wine version 0.0.20050628 though from the looks of the site I'd appreciate it if anyone could tell me how to work it in general.

In the package name pattern put in wine then press the query button this will take you to a page where it will show you lines to put into your sources.list. Now you would update and most likely install the package wine=0.0.20050628 with apt-get to get the exact package. If you press the details button on this page it will take you to another with the source files to build the package yourself or by following the link for the date takes you to packages built for that date which strangely enough does not work for the both of the version of 20050628 available but does for the others I tried.

If necessary get the .dsc, .orig.tar.gz and .diff files for the package you want downloaded to a directory of your choosing then use dpkg-source -x wine-?????.dsc change into the directory that will be created then use dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -us -uc which should build the package(s) that are included in the source. You do both these steps as normal user then install the .deb that will be created as root of course, you will need at least build-essential and dpkg-dev packages installed and anything else the actual building of the package may complain about. To find the packages that may be needed install apt-file then use apt-file update as root then apt-file search file/missing as normal user and it will tell what package you need to install to get it.
