How do I format after partitioning ??

I have a second drive on my file server that I want to use for data. I have partitioned it with cfdisk while the system was up. Now, how do I format it to ext3? What command do I use or do I need to boot up with floppy to do it?

I'm running Debian 3, 2.4 kernel & Samba.

Thanks
Wayne
