Grub not initiating in dual boot Windows 10-Debian

Hey I just installed a Debian partition on my Windows machine and for some reason grub won't start up, its like the partition isn't even there...

I've set up dual booting machines before but this is the first time I'm doing it on a GTP/UEFI disk so I don't know if that could be a factor

I've tried following these instructions [/URL]https://www.debian.wayoflinux.com/installing/post-install/fix-common-issues/uefi-issues but nothing came of it. The most promising thing I found was this command for Windows PowerShell:
Code:
bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \EFI\debian\grubx64.efi
but it outputs
Code:
The set command specified is not valid. Run "bcdedit /?" for command line assistance. The parameter is incorrect.
I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to be asking about Windows

I would think the file does not exist is what it is telling you. This would mean you did not install in EFI mode since that is what is responsible for putting it there. When that is done it also replaces the bootx64.efi that all of them BIOSs look for when booting in EFI mode. This then makes a grub boot menu load instead of the windows one that would be there. Now when I did the EFI install I had to make certain that I used the boot menu option F12 for my machine and pick the UEFI: install_drive option for my usb stick. This boots it in EFI mode and when doing the partitioning of the hard drive I had to choose the small fat32 partition at the beginning of the install drive to be used as the /boot/efi system partition in its configuration screen. To see for certain you are doing it correctly at the end of the install where you see it installing the packages it should install the grub-efi package instead of the pc. If the pc one then you have installed in BIOS compatible mode. It can help going into the BIOS and disabling the secure boot and CSM compatible modes choosing only to boot in EFI mode with the machine.

All of the above is reasonable, but I tend to ignore Windows protestations in such situations.
Get into the firmware menus and see if you have a Debian entry - if so give it a go, it should pop up a dual-boot menu. If it all works make it the default, job done. Else maybe boot up the Debian install USB in live mode and have a look around for yourself - if you're lucky the install went ok and just the install of grub got missed. That's pretty easy to fix from a chroot.

When you first turn on the computer hold one of the following keys and see if you get a boot menu with debian included: esc f9 f10 f2 shift tab
