Whenever I am in a terminal(because I use Slackware), and I haven't figured out yet how to get the fortunes to actually show when launching a terminal (whether it is lxterminal, MATE terminal, etc). Yes I did install the fortune packages.
Add the command fortune onto the end of ~/.bashrc.
Simple enough - I half expected it would be a little more involved because there is no .bashrc in my /home under slackware, and I couldn't for the life of me find out where that command was being placed .
