Debian installer won't recognize hd

Hi, all. I'm trying to install Debian 3.1 r3 but the installer fails to see my hard drive.

Western Digital Caviar 250GB
Model# WD2500KS

I receive friendly notification that,

"No partionable media were found.

Please check that a hard disk is attached to this machine."

Can someone point me in the right direction?

It might have more to do with your motherboard. The kernel in Sarge is 2.6.8 and may not have a driver for your SATA controller. I would recommend installing Etch (Debian Testing). It comes with 2.6.17 as the kernel and will become the new stable release around the end of 2006.

Sarge actually defaults to 2.4.27 now that I think about it... I was assuming you were using linux26 at the boot prompt to get 2.6.8.

Yes, I was specifying 'linux26' as a boot parameter when trying to install Sarge. However, I was able to get "Etch" installed no problem. Thanks again!
