That is weird and a problem I can't help with, this always worked for me, if it was necessary.

Hi,
OK, so I managed to install debian wheezy 7, I deleted previous partitions of openSUSE, and then used guided to install on largest free space.

now I have different questions, how to connect to the internet using eth0(wired ethernet connection)?
It does not recognize eth1(wifi)?
It has no emacs? if needed to be installed I need to your help in setting the theme.
It has no mplayer?

thnx,

To help with that we need more information about your hardware. Please post the output of
Code:
lspci

Once you have the network up and running it is just a matter of launching
Code:
apt-get install mplayer emacs
or using Synaptic/Software Center to install it.
With themes and the Gnome question I can't help, I use neither Emacs nor Gnome.

I wanted to add that when inserting the ip address of the modem in web browser and entering the modem, it has no option to set username and password, so I guess it should be configured through the net applet, but it says unmanaged .

The modem is D-Link, DSL-2500U.

Install firmware-linux-nonfree
Code:
# apt-get install firmware-linux-nonfree
After installing
Code:
# modprobe -r r8169 ; modprobe r8169
Not sure how you installed the wifi firmware but:

Code:
# apt-get install firmware-iwlwifi
Code:
# modprobe -r iwlwifi ; modprobe iwlwifi
You should then be able to configure your connections.

You have to change to managed & restart
http://wiki.debian.org/NetworkManager
Quote:
Enabling Interface Management

If you want NetworkManager to handle interfaces that are enabled in /etc/network/interfaces:

Set managed=true in /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf.

Restart NetworkManager:

Quote:
/etc/init.d/network-manager restart
