Command line only Proxy setup

I am trying to get apt-get to go through a proxy server but the proxy doesn't have the traditional defined port.
I couldn't get the system setup to take the proxy.
Format of it is http://xxxx.xxx.com

Except I do don't know the port number for it, at work. Also learned it uses a pac file.

I think you can't use the PAC with apt. Ask the administrators for the port, or look into the PAC file!

There that was it, plus adding it to apt.conf via Acquire command.

Thanks,
