Red face Canon ip1880 on Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 64 bit, searching for driver or how to...

Can anyone help me.
I'm using Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10:04 64 bit, with kernel 2.6.32-24-generic, and want to use my printer Canon iP1880.
I've tried looking on the internet and found: the use of 32 bits drivers for Linux on Linux 64-bit platforms. I've followed the procedure given but still failed to run the printer properly. There may still be the wrong procedure that I did, could you help me again to repeat what procedures I need to do, till now,I still don't know how to uninstalling that drivers?
Are there other ways that may be successful so I can use my printer, if I practice?

make sure you install Gutenprint it has all the drivers. once you have it installed make sure you have Cups installed then use your printer configuration in ubuntu or the cups interface. when you did your install you may have missed third party drivers , or what ever ubuntu asks during it's install. if everything is installed like Gutenprint and cups open your web browser and type this. in the URL or just click it.http://localhost:631 that is the interface all the other programs use. In that interface you will delete the printer then create a new one cups will try to find it if you know the correct one then select it. Ubuntu is a multi lib system it uses both 32 and 64 bit drivers.
Read this success story here I think the 1400 driver has been used for that printer. check it out. the last two years cannon finally started opening up to us.
