can not use command "vim" in Debian 6.0


after i install Debian 6.0 and i try to to use command "vim" and it is not work and i try to install it with command "apt-get install vim" i can not install it. it say package error.
i will be appreciate for your help !!

That's odd. I have vim on my Debian 6 box and I know I didn't do anything special to install it.

What does "whereis vim" return?

along with the complete output of:
apt-get install vim

Works just fine here:
