It looks like you have a couple of bad sources there, at the very least. iicm.ac.in and secure-testing.debian.net appear to both be unavailable. Try removing them from your sources list and try again.
Not sure about the last errors though, MMap & mergelist. Some kind of corruption or overload due to the bad sources, perhaps?

Add the following line to /etc/apt/apt.conf
APT::Cache-Limit "12582912";

what bothers me a little more than the bad sources in the list is that
you have mixed stable, backports, testing, and unstable repositories in your sources list without appearing to understand the differences..
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=443696
Do you have your APT-Pinning set properly to handle all of the disparate sources ? if not you could severely break your system doing an update like that.

Good point especially since his distro is listed as Sarge.
Mixing in Testing and Unstable is a great way to break a working system. Pick one and stick with it.
I know for me unstable over the last few months with all the rapid changes has been better than when I tried to stay with Testing.
But if all you want is a stable working Debian system you would be better off sticking with Sarge.
You can try updating Sarge then Testing then Sid, one after another but I wouldn't have all 3 set to update at the same time. Your just asking for problems if you do that.

Thanks Guys. Yep i knew ive mixed everything albeit on purpose. I just installed sarge so i got nothing to lose. A bit of experimenting to know things here and there. This was 3 days ago.
Now, ive stuck with sarge and has entries for backport and testing whenever i need them. I aint touching unstable., aaha, no.no, not for the time being.
