apt-get ERROR during install gnome 2.4

I'd like to install gnome 2.4 on debian stable main (now I have 1.4) how I do ?

- I've addes unstable mirror in source.lists
- lunched apt-get upgrade
but this error stop me:
Reading Package Lists... Error!
E: Dynamic MMap ran out of room
E: Error occured while processing python2.3-zsi (NewVersion1)
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/debian.nettuno.it_debian_dists_unstable_main_binary-i386_Packages
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

Some idea?

You need to do the following as su in a terminal window.

cat> /etc/apt/apt.conf

APT::Cache-Limit "8388608";

Then run apt-get update

You will then be able to install Gnome
