Forget the x86 version.

Get the 64bit version from here:

http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html

Save it to your /home directory.
Uncompress the file, and you will be left with a file libflashfplayer.so
cd to ~/.mozilla.
mkdir plugins
copy libflashplayer.so to the plugins directory in ~/.mozilla.

Check it is installed by typing aboutlugins at the browser address bar.
The flashplugin should be listed if all went well.

As for java i use the Icedtea plugin:
aptitude install icedtea-gcjwebplugin

Any problems,post back.

Regards.

i had problems with many many many many packages, so i switched back to my previous linux distro. ill switch back in a few years when amd64 is more well supported in general.

edit to say that i did find the link you linked me to before i posted, but i still had problems with it. and i also tryed the java package you pointed to and again had problems. i was using etch, but its cool for now.
