Question [Totem-Gstreamer] No image in the video

Yop the community!

I don't understand why everyone talks about Gstreamer like that... each time i tried it for a video (all except mpeg), i just have the sound and goom as the image o_O

I'm at a point where i even wonder why it's in the repository... It's just useless... But i think that if smarter person have chosen to include it in the repository, there must be a reason! Is there a special trick to do in order to play Xvid, Divx, wmv and quicktime videos?

For the moment I use totem-xine, it works great, but the fact that i can't make gstreamer work is driveing me mad!

There is no graphical interface for mplayer, and when there is one, it is quite ugly...
Plus, i touched some part of the source code of mplayer and since i'd rather use something else (it's like XMMS... it's just ugly too...). I'm not an eye-candy user, I even often use the term, but for me there are some software that has to be easy to use and generally it's the multimedia ones.

But, my problem is not that totem is all messed up, in fact totem-xine works quite well here. It's just that totem-gstreamer tends to be the new standard and i just don't understand why because i never succed in playing a video that is not an mpeg. So did i miss something, or we agree that totem-gstreamer doesn't read any video?
