where to go after booting successfully ?

hi thanks guy for all ur advice, ive been able to burn iso file and boot it from my laptop. but once in i'm lost and don't known where to go, what to do, etc ive learned the getting started dsl which appear on the screen, i think there is almost nothing to begin. i tried to make a connection to internet but didn't success. in the terminal window i tried command man ls and other but they don't work.i downloadell the introduction to linux in the is it good!? is it possible to have the open suite in dsl and work on? thanks a lot in advance. harys

by your post count it suggests to me you may wish to consider playing with a live cd...that runs off the cd and so you can learn some stuff without making hard drive install mistakes.

a kanotix cd is the best imho then knoppix.

you can connect to the internet with these live cds.
