long time between posts

need to know...HowTo

persistant folder settings:
everytime i power down/restart i loose the recent settings i have for displaying a particular folder
such as /edit/view/list
and then coloumn width and perhaps font size...
I used to be able to modify individual folders and they would maintain thier settings
was that older ubuntu os...

font size in browser
i need larger font size - sites with lots of text ...ctrl/+ ...helps but seems everything else increases in size faster than the text and then everything runs off the page sideways...

brings up the next howto...
awhile back it seemed pages would expand to fit the screen and then force text etc down instead of across coloumns
at least you could read the page by scrolling down...
now you have to scroll over to read a wide page then scroll back and down to continue reading a long page...
now i just ignore the stuff hiding on the right of a wide page...

so...
is it me...or the interweb...
are my setting wrong or are most web sites coded wrong...

years ago read how coloums should be set as a percentage of the page...not a set width

but this here just notes to jog my mind when and if i get back to this page...
so question may not be formed quite correctly in order to answer inteligently...

i am tempted to change the reason for editing
now the reason is to post a reminder that i just edited my blog control panel
i now allow views and comments from visitors...
hope that does not waste their time
