Trying to get madwifi to compile

Posted 01-25-2009 at 05:29 PM by ctroyer

Anyone have any luck getting madwifi v0.9.4 to compile? According to the notes at madwifi-project.org, and at sourceforge, the sourceforge files are deprecated and the suggestion is to download the latest from madwifi-project.org.
Cool, but the link on madwifi-project.org - "Click here to Download madwifiv0.9.4!" redirects to - you guessed it - Sourceforge! Yay. Running in circles.
So I downloade it again, untarred and compiled again, but still ath_pci is not found. modprobe ath_pci just results in a Fatal error, saying it's not found.

Anyone have any ideas before I go post on the hardware forum?
Besides upgrading to the latest kernel?
I specifically want the madwifi module, as the newer ath5k module does not support my AR5005G card.
