new Kernel up+running

Posted 08-02-2006 at 08:55 AM by baikonur

Compiled my new Kernel yesterday. Now, acpi works great. I have a little battery-icon on one of my gnome panels that right now shows me that I still have 57 minutes to go... enough time to finish this blog entry.
I used 'time' with the make-kpkg command. This is what I got:
real 11m46.257s
user 9m14.727s
sys 0m37.918s
Wow, not bad. When I compiled the first version of the 2.6.17 Kernel, then running a 2.6.8-debian-standard-kernel-image, it took the machine about 3x longer! Sweet. Installed it, ran 'lilo' and everything seems to be just fine for now. Of course there are still things that need to be done.
Want to get some chess prog with network/internet features going tonight.
