Claws-Mail with GnuPG Encryption

This tutorial will setup Claws-Mail with HTML Mail Viewing, Spam Filtering and GnuPG Encryption. If you use Yahoo Mail or some other service, you will need to get the settings for your email from your provider. The information here came from the Claws-Mail Help and from SlackBuilds.org.

Compile and install the following applications in the following order from SlackBuilds.org

Creating A Slackware USB Flash Disk Installer

This can be used to install Slackware to a netbook. What this does is create a bootable USB Flash Drive with all the packages needed for installation. You only need a 2Gb Flash Stick to create the installer including the packages.
NOTE-You will need an existing Slackware machine to create a USB Installation Stick!

Dugan Chen did a very good job of creating the SlackBuilds and providing the source for rebuilding the Slackware packages to get better fonts. I use the Ubuntu Font Improvements and am very happy with them. This is a condensed run-down of the information he provided along with my own information/settings.

Opera Web Browser Hardening

These are the settings I use on Opera, however you may go more stricter or looser with your security settings depending on your needs.

The current version available from SlackBuilds.org is Opera-11.01. After compiling and installing Opera, run the application and do the following:

Click Menu (Upper Left-Hand Corner) > Settings > Preferences OR CTRL+F12

General Tab > Startup "Start with a Home Page"...

Hosts File

Note-The IP Addresses and Hostnames are made up for this example.

The Hosts file contains a list of IP Addresses mapped to Host Names. It is loaded into memory when your start your computer. Look at the file /etc/HOSTNAME

# cat /etc/HOSTNAME
Strawberry.linux.net

It will have the Host Name of your computer, which you provided when you installed Slackware. But how is it mapped to an IP address? By looking at the /etc/hosts...
