New user to Arch, and finding it very stable indeed, but today did backups then updates (via TTY), rebooted, then found Pictures folder is now empty, and no desktop wallpapers available etc. Bit of a panic wondering if anything else had been deleted (no), and can't see any other reports of this anywhere, but hope to help out if I can bug-report to the right place. Am not sure which package would have the potential to remove a folder's contents, or whether it's best to bug-report to arch/kernel?

The updates involved: xterm, vulkan-tools, sdl2, linux-lts/headers, lib32-glib2, imagemagick, gnutls, glu, glib2-docs, fuse-common, desktop-file-utils, cmake, glib2-2, archlinux-upstream-data.

Running KDE, lts kernel, i7/radeon r9 255.

Sorry, I think I must have deleted the folder contents somehow during backups ... no idea how, but external backups have no Picture folder contents either, including a drive that wasn't plugged in during updates. Sorry for wasting time with this.

Don't worry about that - worry about that backup regime.
What did you use to do the backup ?. Maybe you deleted all the files prior to any backup ever being taken - hard to track that now.

Thanks for responding syg00, and sorry for the delay in response. I was stunned myself, as, in all the years of manually backing things up, I've never had this happen. I put it down to the heatwave/not being well, and am being extra careful about any backups now ... some folders I empty after backing up, so I must have just automatically done that without concentrating properly about exactly which folder it was, or checking if the folder was full/emptied before backup. Lesson learnt; to never back up when too hot/tired/unwell! :-)

Or, of course, never remove a folder after backup. Wait a few days so you can see how things have gone.
