If youve never used ABS before, heres how, do all this as root:
run the command "abs"
make a directory in /usr/abs/local called "rhythmbox"
make a text file in that folder called "PKGBUILD", that contains the above text
run "makepkg"
that will download, compile, and create a package for rhythmbox. then install that package like: pacman -A rhythmbox-0.5.1-1.pkg.tar.gz
What I did to get Rhythmbox to compile was I was sure to do "su -" to become root, just "su" wouldnt work.
I was also having problems with GStreamer, so I had it use XINE (you see the --enable-xine flag). You can remove this if you want.
Sorry, I'm using RedHat 9. I was following the directions on the rhythmbox website; I installed apt for rpm, used that to install gstreamer, then used it to install rhythmbox.
After that, rhythmbox would run, but it would crash if I tried to play anything. I googled for the error message, this was the only site found.
bah, I was trying to compile it originally, but the config script couldn't detect that gstreamer was installed because the stupid apt for rpm thing didn't install a pkgconfig entry for it. So then I got the bright idea to use apt to just install rhythmbox, which led me here.
At this rate, I'm going to rewrite rhythmbox from scratch as an XMMS plugin, and it'll actually work
