Rhythmbox 0.8.5 song playback problems

when I play most of mp3s, I can't hear the song after a minute of playing. Rhythmbox 0.8.5 displays the song as still playing, but there is no sound transmitted. Don't know where to start troubleshooting, GStreamer? Change players? Suggestions welcome.

I had a similar problem with XMMS under KDE. It turned out KDE uses ALSA for sound output and has preferrence , so every time the system used the soundcard XMMS had to bite the dust. I Installed a plug-in for XMMS for output to ALSA and now everything works fine.

I'm just starting to learn a bit about gnom, but just maybe your problem has a similar origin.
