I pacman'd xaos, right after a new 0.6 install with only the base (all) packages installed. it grabbed and installed xaos and a few dependencies, including xfree86 and slang. The problem is with slang...it's installed, and the file (libslang.a) is on my system, yet not the file that xaos is looking for on startup (libslang.so.1). I tried symlinking it with no luck. I did a updatedb and slocate libslang only to find the single libslang.a file. I even tried compiling slang from source but it doesn't seem to generate a .so library....by default anyways....I'm stumped....any help please....
btw this is my first time using arch...trying to convert myself from slackware
if you use GNU/Linux for your desktop, then ArchLinux is whole lotta better than SlackWare in many ways. The most famous is i686, BLEEDING EDGE PACKAGES, and *DEPENDENCY* [slackware pkg system is way too old]
ya i was looking for somethign scriptable with random fractals for a video project i am working on. slack is great...i like gentoo too. i've installed all the main distros hundreds of times on hundreds of pc's, and i always like slack or gentoo the best. but arch is like the best of both worlds for desktop usage.
