Just installed Arch!

And it is pretty slick. There are a few config files to tweak, so it definately NOT for newbies, IMHO. Of course, it states that plainly on the website, so caveat emptor. That said, it is pretty fast. Pacman kicks all kinds of ass. I'm running IceWM right now, and it screams. Very cool distro, I will definately keep it on my desktop for a while!

For an easy install of arch linux get www.amlug.net. It will install a preview of 0.7 of archlinux. Albeit very easy. The nicest thing is udev. It is up to date and has greater support than devfs.
Again it is a easy install. Pacman man is awsome. I did the ctrl-c in many places to see if I could crash it, not. Very stable.
If you want to use fluxbox, they are having some odd problem. I did a CVS of it and compiled it my self with no problems.
I have cups, sound, lm_sensors, gkrellm, etc. Running. I only took about 2.5 hours of tweaking. I still like debian(knoppix). But, arch is i686 out of the box. Very fast and tight distro.....

Yes first do the base install, editing needed files, installing bootloader. Then reboot. Install your desktop (KDE or Gnome) then run hwd -x.

You will find a pretty good tutorial to start with right here:
