[SOLVED] Discrepancy between ISO image version (release date) and uname's output.

Hi: I installed the ISO image archlinux-2018.02.01-x86_64.iso. The kernel version, according to the uname command is 4.16.13:

But this page from Arch gives kernel version 4.14.15 for 2018.02.01. Any way to explain the discrepancy?

Hi:

The .iso image for the date: 2018.02.01 is smaller than the .iso image for the date: 2018.07.01.
The reason for the discrepancy is most likely an upgrade to the kernel.

Time is inevitably a factor in a higher version of the kernel as Arch is a rolling release distribution.
In other words a system, which allows a one-time installation with 'continuous upgrades'.

Just to backup what Ztcoracat is saying, 4.14.15 was the kernel version used when the 2018-02-01 snapshot was first released.

So if I download archlinux-yyyy.mm.dd-x86_64.iso at date yyyy.mm.dd and download it again at yyyy.mm.dd plus 10 days I might expect the corresponding kernels to differ? If the answer to this question is yes it means Arch can release a lot different files all of them with the same name. Up until now I always had treated with files that have a unique name.
