I vote for arch because of pacman, arch AUR, arch ABS, large repositories, never have to reinstall, great wiki, members on the arch forum who eat/breath/sleep arch, it's a binary distro...it is not 32 bit though.

Slackware, if it must be GNU/Linux... but, there are Unix (more stable design/kernel) forums here also: sometimes I like FreeBSD Unix also, and want to try Open Solaris/IllumOS Unix (except it doesn't have KDE yet.)

Debian, of course. Debian Testing/Unstable if you want a better answer.
Now, I do {dislike} systemd, and in the fullness of time I will probably migrate to Devuan.

I have tried them all....and narrowed it down to 4 distro's that were the easiest and most efficient for me to use. A MAJOR consideration was how fast and easy the system would connect to my home WINDOWS network and allow me to transfer files. Hands down in this order was:

1. Linuxmint
2. Zorin
3. Xubuntu
4. Linux Lite

the others did not even come close.

I use lots of distros. When I want to get things done, I use Mint MATE 20. When I want to relax, I use Bodhi. And when I want to remember my roots, I run OpenMandriva. All those, plus Manjaro, seem to get done what I want to get done. I use all the others to keep an eye out for what might be coming up or just remain aware of what's out there.

I install Linux on lots of PC's especially for people moving from Windows.
Linux Mint is always were I end up. Mate works best for most hardware, but use cinnamon for my main desktop.
I am using Ubuntu Mate on my Dell laptop as it is the most stable with touchy dell trackpad.
I have been running ubuntu with KDE and am finding it very stable for my machine that I use to remote into other folks machines in the time of covid.
Try a lot of distro's each year but end up with debian based as I am fluent in that OS.
Running Bohdi on an old dell laptop that has such a great keyboard that I love to write on it.

I can understand that, @Reziac

(Aside -- you in 'Blue Heaven,' or just close?)

I vote for antiX because I always go back to it and it improves every year!

Blue Heaven?? No, I'm in the Northern Wastes

[checks absurdly long list (557) of sampled distros]
IIRC, antiX refused to run for me...

That's weird! I thought AntiX would run on anything, even a vacuum cleaner.

There's my problem! I have an old vacuum that needs a new OS; I'll try that. Thanks for the tip!
